
Michael is a Teaching Professional at Spring Hill College Golf Course located in Mobile, Alabama. He has been a member of the PGA since 1996. This is the second stint as a teaching professional at Spring Hill College GC. He taught here for 6 years when he first moved to Mobile in 2003. Michael then spent the next 16 years as the Director of Instruction at Azalea City GC in Mobile before returning to Spring Hill in November of 2025. Michael has also taught golf in Birmingham, AL. as well as Raleigh, NC. One of his career highlights was spending two months in Thailand as the lead instructor in a Korean golf academy. Another highlight has been his seven trips to Uruguay to teach golf with his friend, and Uruguay PGA professional, Juan Marquine. Early in his career, Michael was fortunate enough to be able to work with some great instructors, including Hank Johnson and Wayne Flint. This opportunity allowed him to gain the knowledge of how the golf swing works. Over the years Michael has developed a personalized style and ability to deliver this information to his students. Michael makes the complicated golf swing understandable and easier to learn. His combination of knowledge and teaching style, makes for a great learning environment.
Michael believes in a developmental approach of instruction that is based on building a solid foundation using golf fundamentals. He works with students to foster sound golf skills through repetitive motion training, using theories developed by experts in motor skill learning. His approach is long-term, but can be applied in a short-term setting, to realize significant improvement in ball flight in just one day. He is equally adept at teaching both beginners and advanced players in private or group sessions.
